Request Title: Auction Style Waiver Wire Bidding
Description
I feel that waiver wire bidding is a bit much of a guessing game. Some of the funnest parts of acquiring players in fantasy sports is auction bidding. Getting an entire DEL league online at the same time is too tedious to even get into, so I tried to come up with a couple ideas to enhance WW bids. My proposal is to alter the important preseason WW bidding rounds to multiple days, similar to college recruiting.
If a player receives an offer that is X amount higher than any other offer (20%?), he signs immediately. Otherwise, the highest bid becomes his new starting bid. In the next round, teams can try to beat the best offer, or the team with the current best offer can increase their own bid. Mechanically, I see two ways for it to work.
1. Each round is broken up into two days, with the highest bid on day two winning. Perhaps using a similar mechanic as recruiting where the player chooses their top five offers and those teams have a chance to beat or raise the initial offer.
2. The entire free agency period lasts until the day before camp. The player signs with whoever has the highest bid on that day, the team that has the highest bid two days in a row, or the team that offers X% more than the second best bid.
Perhaps this could only run in the slow-play leagues? Perhaps it is stupid. It seems like it would be fun and realistic, though.

Admin Notes
For option 1, the 4+ days (depending on the league) from season init to first round bidding would have to be reduced to two days (init Monday, WW1 Wednesday, WW2 Friday). I don't always have enough free time to get Nagurski reports written between Tuesday and Friday CCEL games; I certainly wouldn't always have time for two full sets of free agent bidding in the middle of the week. Option 2 is even more of a non-starter.

Coach Clipboard (Apr 21 12:42:58 2020 ): All for it and I think either option 1 or 2 would be good. I agree this may add a little work but feel this would be worthwhile. Basically the majority of your upcoming season success depends on how well you perform on round 1 of WW - it is currently too much of a factor
Pythagoras A (Apr 29 08:01:13 2020 ): I agree that a lot (probably too much) falls on the importance of the first waiver wire, especially if you have multiple spots to fill. It would be nice if there were a way to submit an offer in such a way that it would mimic the rumors that come out about offers in real life. But, I have no idea how that might work, so you could gauge a feel for the type of offers a player were getting (which would be what an agent does in real life). I am a little concerned about what may happen if a major change is made. Could it be tested in one or two leagues before a sim-wide change were made?
