This should all be done from the "Administer League" option of the Coach Login menu. If you run multiple leagues, of course you need to be sure to select the correct league before choosing the administer league option.
Changing Team Information
Team information can be edited through the administrator commands as well. This is most useful in leagues with fictitious team names, when a new coach takes over a team and wishes to choose a name for his team. You need to enter the old name of the team that you are changing, the new name, the new abbreviation, and the new geographic region.
Adding or moving a coach
To add a new coach to your league or to move a coach already in the league, select the "assign coach to job" option. Enter the name of the coach, the city, team, job, and whether or not to remove the coach from the waiting list. The job selection should be either owner or assistant. Only add an assistant to a team that already has an owner. If you picked this coach off the waiting list for your sport, you should remove him from the list. Otherwise don't. The coach will be notified via e-mail that he has been added to the league, but it is recommended that you send him a personal e-mail as well. There is also an option to "keep orders"; this only matters if you are moving a coach who is already an owner (not assistant) in your league to ownership of a new team. The default setting is "yes"; the only reason to select "no" is if he is using CPU coaching for his old team.
Note: when adding a new coach, please change the team name first and then add the coach. This prevents confusion for the new coach, who is sent an automatically-generated e-mail with the name of the team hs has joined.
When a coach joins signs up your your sport, you will be sent an e-mail telling who is joining, and what teams he wants. It will also tell you if he wishes to wait until a break between seasons, or join as soon as possible. If a coach wishes to wait until a break between seasons, you may only add him during the period between the end of a season (when coaching and player awards are given out) and the initialization of the next season. If he wishes to join immediately, follow these criteria:
- If somebody requests your league specifically, you should add him immediately. Obviously, if he specifically requests another league, add him under no circumstances.
- If somebody requests to join any league, and your league is in the playoffs, between seasons, or early in the offseason, you may add the coach immediately. For soccer leagues, which have no playoffs, the cutoff is that you should be in the final week of your season.
- If your league is well into the offseason or in the first half of the season, wait 24 hours after receiving the e-mail (in case another commissioner for an eligible league adds him) and then you may add the coach.
- If you are in the second half of the season, you must wait 48 hours after receiving the e-mail before you may add the prospective coach.
For college leagues, there is no issue of other leagues, so you should add anyone who wants a team ASAP.
Removing a coach
Removing a coach is much simpler; you need only to enter his name and team. He will be removed and sent notification via e-mail of his removal.
